Thailand Open: PV Sindhu storms into semi-finals defeating Japan’s Yamaguchi

Bangkok, May 20: PV Sindhu, two-time Olympic medalist, advanced to the semi-finals of the Thailand Open 2022 after defeating Akane Yamaguchi of Japan in the quarter-finals on Friday in Bangkok.

Sindhu won the match on court 1 on scores of 21-15, 20-22, 21-13.

Sindhu won the first game by a score of 21-15. The Japanese, on the other hand, came back to win the second game 20-22. Sindhu emerged victorious in the last game, 21-13.

Earlier, PV Sindhu won the second round match at the Thailand Open in the women’s singles category on Thursday, defeating Yu Jin Sim of South Korea in straight games to advance to the quarter finals.

Meanwhile, Indian shuttler Malvika Bansod was eliminated in the second round of the women’s singles category after losing 16-21, 21-14, 21-14 to Denmark’s Line Christophersen.
