Mumbai, Feb 3: A person claiming to be a member of the Talib group has threatened to carry out a terror attack in Mumbai in a mail sent on February 3.

According to police sources, the NIA informed the Mumbai Police about the development, following which various Maharashtra cities were placed on alert. The threat mailer described himself as a Talibani.

Mumbai police sources said, “The person who sent the threat mail described himself to be a Talibani. He said that there would be a terror attack in Mumbai.”

NIA along with the Mumbai police have started a joint investigation to unearth the truth after receiving the threat mail.

Earlier in January this year, a similar call was received at Dhirubhai Ambani International School in Mumbai wherein the unknown caller had threatened to blow up the school.

According to the police sources, a call was received at 4:30 pm on the landline of the school, where an unidentified caller had claimed that they had planted a time bomb in the school.

Similarly, last year in October several threat calls from an unidentified caller were received by the Mumbai police claiming that bombs had been placed at several parts of the city. Police sources have claimed that three bombs were said to have been planted in the city at Infinity Mall Andheri, PVR Mall Juhu and Sahara Hotel Airport. The Mumbai police had beefed security in the targeted place.

Meanwhile, Mumbai police said attempts are underway to nab the unidentified mailer. Further details are awaited.
