Following the Sunday fire incident, the three were not found aboard the train.

After passing through Kozhikode city at about 9.45 p.m., the Alappuzha-Kannur Executive Express train arrived at the Korapuzha railway bridge when an unidentified guy doused a fellow passenger with flammable liquid and lit him ablaze, causing at least eight others to get burn injuries.

After the event, the perpetrator quickly made his getaway while the injured were taken to hospitals when bystanders pushed the emergency chain. A few passengers on the train that arrived in Kannur stated that a mother and a kid were missing following the event.

The city police checked the tracks shortly after hearing about the missing people and discovered three dead, including the mother, the kid, and a middle-aged guy. When they saw the fire, the police believe they either slid from the train or made an attempt to leave.

The accussed has not yet been found, railway police said on Monday. According to authorities, a murder complaint has been filed against the defendants.

Police investigation is underway.
