Dhanbad, Feb 26: Three members of a marriage party were killed while six others were injured in a bus accident at Bandhgora village under Pindrajora police station, around 52 km away from Bokaro district headquarters on Friday night.
Pindrajora police station officer-in-charge cum Inspector RD Munda said that the incident occurred around 11.30 p.m. on Friday. Some people, who were sitting on the roof of the bus, collided with a tree branch and fell on the road. The tree branch was hanging on-road and it seems the driver of the bus did not see that.
The police official said three persons died, one on spot, while six others received a severe injury and were admitted to the hospital. The condition of two others is said to be serious.
The marriage party bus was going to Ghatiyali village under Pindrajora police station from Raghunathpur of Purulia district of West Bengal.
A member of the marriage party said that due to the dark and unknown location of the area, the bus driver did not see a huge tamarind tree hovering over the road and drove away at high speed resulting in those sitting on the roof colliding with a branch and falling on the roadside.
“Bodies have been sent for post-mortem and the bus has been seized,” said the inspector of Pindrajora police station to media persons.
