Ranchi, Dec.15: Parliamentarians representing different parliamentary constituencies in Lok Sabha swung into action to save HEC.
This came to the fore after Palamu MP V.D.Ram and Ranchi MP Sanjay Seth today met Union Heavy Industries Secretary Arun Goel at his office in New Delhi to discuss the issue of the HEC strike day after Singhbhum MP Geeta Koda raised the issue in Parliament.
The meeting lasted for an hour during which the BJP leaders discussed the problems of workers who have not been paid for the last seven months, revival plan which is required to save the ‘mother of industries’ and generation of additional sources of income by the settlement of shops running in the HEC premises for years without any rent.
MP Seth confirmed the development saying they had gone to the office of Goel around 1 pm.
“The discussion remained positive. Goel shared the technical problem of selecting a regular CMD for HEC. He said HEC being an A-grade industry that required a CMD of rank above joint secretary. He said he has asked the search committee to search such a person for HEC,” Seth said.
“Regarding other issues, the heavy industry secretary said that he has called three directors of HEC tomorrow for a discussion and based on that discussion further action will be taken. He assured us that his first priority will be to end the strike and pay the due salary of workers before chalking out a strategy for revival. He said directors are expected to present the same plan. He also talked about reducing the expenditure on officers,” Seth said.
Seth while confirming the development said he will leave no stone unturned to save HEC.
“I have already raised the issue four times in Parliament and will go to any extent to save the HEC, which is the pride of the nation,” Seth said.
