Jamshedpur, Sept 24: Police arrested three criminals for allegedly indulging in firing on the car of a scrap dealer at Sonari on September 19 afternoon.
While arresting the trio, the police seized a pistol, a live cartridge and a motorcycle from them who were identified as Ajay Gaud, Jagannath Pusty and Ritesh Kumar Singh.
Revealing about the breakthrough, senior SP, Kaushal Kishore said that the gun-shot attack on the scrap dealer Laljee Prasad by the two bike-borne criminals was intended to make the scrap dealer to withdraw a case registered with the Sonari Thana on August 16, 2023.
“On August 16, a gang of criminals had attempted to snatch a gold chain from the neck of the scrap dealer, leading him to lodge an FIR against unidentified criminals. The police had, however, succeeded in cracking the abortive chain-snatching case by arresting two persons identified as Rahul Singh Munda and Sonu Singh and seizing a bike. Later during interrogation, Sonu Singh had divulged the names of two more persons Ajay Gaud and Pintu Yadav in that case. As police had started searching for the arrest of Ajay and Pintu, Ajay had conspired to intimidate the scrap dealer by firing on his car with the help of his friends Jagannath Pusty and Ritesh, ” said the senior SP while talking to the newsmen at a press conference on Sunday.
The senior police officer stated that the police had collected CCTV footage of the firing incident and had also recovered two empty cartridges from the crime scene.
