Ranchi, Jan 19: A three-months-old corona infected baby girl having central nervous system infection admitted to RIMS paediatric ward lost her life today.
Head of Paediatric Ward at RIMS Dr Amar Verma said that the baby had a central nervous system infection and was also suffering from Covid infection. She became critical 5 days before and was kept on a life support system.
“This is the case of co-morbidity where a patient is suffering from other diseases as well. We kept her on the life support system but could not save her as the child was too young to bear the severity of the case,” Verma said.
The treatment of the girl was going on in the Department of Paediatric Medicine, RIMS for the past 1 month.
At the same time, a total of four corona infected, including a three-month-old girl, have died during treatment at RIMS. Among the dead, a 35-year-old man was a resident of Gola in Ramgarh district and was undergoing treatment on the second floor of the New Trauma Center.
While a 72-year-old resident of Palamu’s Panki, Corona infected, who was undergoing treatment on the second floor of the New Trauma Center, also died.
A 49-year-old infected person from the Purulia district of West Bengal, undergoing treatment in the same surgery D2, has died.
73 corona infected patients are undergoing treatment in RIMS. Of these, 19 infected on the second floor of New Trauma Center, 01 in New Paying Ward, 11 in Dengue Ward, 12 in Surgery D2, 07 in Paediatric 2, besides 3 children are admitted in Paediatric Surgery. While four infected children are admitted in Ortho A2.
