Daltonganj, April 21: The Latehar health administration has geared up its machinery to fight against Covid. It is taking into account three railway stations just to have an eye on any suspected case of Corona positive.
It has identified three important railway stations falling in its district where it is to conduct RAT (rapid antigen test) on passengers, mostly incoming ones, as outgoing passengers just refuse to have any test done on them.
The three railway stations are Barwadeeh Junction, Latehar and Tori. These railway stations are quite a busy station, passenger-wise.
Lots of people of Garu, Bareysanr etc in the Latehar district work at numerous rubber factories in Kerala and this state Kerala often gets into trouble with Corona.
The Latehar health administration has sounded cautious notes for passengers coming from Delhi, Maharashtra, Kerala etc. These states have a far greater number of Covid cases.
Ved Prakash, Latehar district data manager of integrated disease surveillance programme cum in charge district programme manager said today, “Civil surgeon Dr Dinesh Kumar has asked the concerned medical officers in charge where these railway stations fall, to carry out surprise RAT for Covid of the persons or passengers on these railway stations in all.”
He said the surprise RAT is done at the Latehar railway station. It is yet to be done for the other two railway stations Barwadeeh and Tori.
The Latehar railway station comes under the purview of the Sadar Hospital Latehar and also under the urban community health centre while Barwadeeh railway junction comes under the community health centre at Barwadeeh and Tori railway junction under the Chandwa community health centre.
“Passengers show extreme negativity to give their nasal swab or throat swab. They become white with anger and even blame our health workers for spreading Corona panic every few months a year just to frighten one and all. Passengers shout at our health workers,” said Ved Prakash.
On the other hand, the civil surgeon said, “There are six active positive cases of Covid in Latehar district as of now. All the six active positive cases of Covid are asymptomatic and are doing fine.”
He further said, “These six tested Covid positive in our RAT and tested positive in TrueNat test which leaves nothing in doubt.”
Among the six active positive cases, two are females and 4 males. There is no active Covid positive case of any child said the acting district programme manager Ved Prakash.
Mahuadanr community health centre has 4 active positive cases of Covid while it is one each in two other community health centres namely Chandwa community health centre and the urban community health centre at Latehar.
Incharge district programme manager Ved Prakash said, “The civil surgeon has directed Sahiyas and respective ANMs to keep eyes on any suspected case where home isolation looks imminent or unavoidable.”
Meanwhile, with one more active positive case of Corona detected in Panki the total number of active positive cases of Covid in Palamu has gone up to seven, said the district epidemiologist Dr Anup Kr Singh.
