Ranchi, Aug 11: Three including a student, security personnel and a driver sustained injuries after the boundary wall of Hostel No 2 of Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) collapsed and a tree adjacent to it got uprooted due to heavy rain.
President of RIMS Junior Doctor Association Dr Vikas informed about the incident saying injuries were minor and victims are out of danger. He, however, said several two-wheelers parked beside the wall got badly damaged in the incident.
Dr Vikas said the incident would have been avoided if the RIMS administration had paid proper attention to his request.
The director was informed about the dilapidated wall three to four times in writing, but no concrete steps were taken. “If proper steps had been taken then such an incident would have not taken place,” Dr Vikas said.
A RIMS student said there are many old trees on the same hostel premises, whose condition is very bad and they may also cause similar incidents in case proper attention is not paid to the cutting of its branches.
