Jamshedpur, April 15: Police on Friday arrested three youths for carrying a loaded pistol near NH-33 under Mango thana area, leading them to solve a firing incident that took place at Daiguttu in Mango in the night of April 13.
Those arrested were identified as Sumit Malakar, Rishu Kumar Rai and Batul Murmu, all in the age group of late teens and residents of Daiguttu in Mango.
Revealing about the arrests, superintendent of police (City) K Vijay Shankar said that they got a tip off about three teenagers were assembled near the NH-33 in a suspicious manner.
“Acting on the information, a police party rushed to the spot and caught the three having surrounded them. On checking the teens, the police found a loaded pistol from the possession of Sumit. Immediately afterwards, the three were taken into custody,” said Vijay Shankar while addressing the newsmen.
The City SP said during interrogation, those in police custody divulged that they had on Wednesday night had fired a shot at owner of a jewelry shop at Daiguttu so as to avenge enmity.
The senior police officer pointed out Sumit had procured the pistol from Patna a week ago and carried the firearms in a Jamshedpur-bound bus.
The jeweler had been shot at while returning home at Daiguttu from his shop at Mango market,
Sources in the police revealed that one of the accused, Rishu, had been scolded by the jeweler recently as the former wanted to befriend with the latter’s daughter. On being rebuffed, Rishu had teamed up with two others to level the score.
The sources further pointed out that after the fracas with the jeweler that Rishu had asked Sumit to take the revenge and convinced him to buy a pistol from Bihar.
