Srinagar: In a significant operation, the Indian Army’s special forces and the Jammu and Kashmir Police eliminated three terrorists in Kathua district today. The joint operation, which is currently ongoing, involves units from the Army’s 1 Para Special Forces, 22 Garhwal Rifles, and the Special Operations Group (SOG) of the Union Territory’s police.
Acting on intelligence inputs about militant activity in the area, security forces launched a coordinated assault that led to an intense exchange of fire. The identities and affiliations of the neutralized terrorists are yet to be confirmed. Sources indicate that the operation is still underway to ensure the area is completely secure.
This encounter occurs amid heightened security measures in Jammu and Kashmir, especially with upcoming elections on the horizon. Authorities are intensifying efforts to maintain peace and prevent any disruptions to the electoral process.
Earlier in the day, a Border Security Force (BSF) soldier was injured due to unprovoked firing by Pakistani forces in the Akhnoor sector of Jammu and Kashmir. The BSF, responsible for guarding the India-Pakistan international border that stretches approximately 3,323 kilometers, reported that troops are on high alert. The border region encompasses various sectors with differing levels of tension and security challenges.
These incidents underscore the ongoing security concerns in the region. Security agencies are vigilant to thwart any attempts by hostile elements to destabilize the area, ensuring the safety of civilians and the integrity of national borders.
