Ranchi, Dec. 7: The tool down strike by HEC workers will continue as the first conciliation attempt made by Deputy Chief Labour Commissioner A. Kumar, the union labour ministry, failed.

A union leader informed this saying the attempt failed after the management expressed its inability to pay the due salary of seven months at a time and promised half-heartedly that it will try to pay the wage of June by the end of December.

Representatives of eight labour unions were present during the conciliation meeting organized at the office of the regional labour commissioner (central) at Ranchi.

Over 3500 HEC workers of HEC have been on strike for the last eight days. Despite the request of the three directors sitting in the Ranchi office to the workers to co-operate in production, positive results are not coming. Workers demand the resignation of directors and immediate attention of the chairman cum managing director sitting in Delhi. Officers have also come in the support of workers as they find their demands justified.
