This has happened for the first time that such a large number of office bearers were elected uncontested before the elections.

But, a formal announcement in this regard would be made only after the biennial polls scheduled to take place on September 27.

Businessman Vijay Anand Moonka, who was a vice-president in the old executive body  was elected as the new president of the trade outfit unopposed alongwith eight other office bearers.

Moonka had filed his nomination papers alongwith eight other contestants for various posts on Saturday.

The four secretaries for trade, industry, finance and public relations & welfare were also elected unopposed.

Election officer Jagdish Khandelwal said as nine of the office bearers including the president were elected unopposed the biennial elections on September 27 will now take place for two posts only- vice-president ( industry) and vice- president ( public relations and welfare).

Mahesh Sonthalia is contesting for the post of vice- president ( industry ) while Satyanarayan Agarwal is fighting for the post of
vice- president ( public relations and welfare).

The polls will also elect 23 executive committee members.

The SCCI has around 1,400 registered members who would exercise their franchise through secret ballot.

The current president of SCCI Ashok Bhalotia said that for the first time such a large number of office bearers were elected unopposed before the polls.

The polls will take place at Chamber Bhavan in Bistupur from 10.30am to 3pm on September 27, Monday. Results will be declared on the same day.
