Dhanbad, Sept 30: Trains on the Grand Chord Line between Dhanbad and Gaya section, including three Rajdhani Express trains, were halted for three hours on Thursday morning after a large tree fell on the railway track due to severe rains and storms that had been hammering the region for the previous 33 hours.
According to PK Mishra, Dhanbad Rail Division PRO, trains on the up and down line of the Dhanbad-Gaya Section were fully halted for three hours when a tree fell on the track between Hirodih and Sharmatand railway stations. Movement of New Delhi- Howrah Express, New Delhi- Sealdah Express and New Delhi- Bhubaneswar Express along with others were stopped at different railway stations.
After getting the information, divisional railway officers sent a team from Gomoh junction to the accident spot and got the traffic movement restored in three hours of operation. The incident occurred at 4.45 am on Thursday and the train movement was restored at 7.55 am.
As per the official information, New Delhi- Howrah Rajdhani Express at Koderma railway station, New Delhi- Sealdah Express at Gurupa railway station, New Delhi-Bhubaneswar Express at Sharmatand railway station, Odisha Sampark Kranti Express, Kalka Mail Express at Gomoh Railway Station were stopped after a tree fell on the track. The movement of goods trains was also affected by this incident.
