Dhanbad, Jan 27: Trains movement on Gomoh-Gaya section under Dhanbad Rail Division of East Central Railway (ECR) Hajipur zone was restored after around five hours at 6:35 am of Thursday following an explosion triggered by Maoists on track between Chichaki and Karmabad stations.

Senior public relation officer of ECR Hajipur zone Rajesh Kumar said that as track was declared fit at 6.35 a.m. today, all trains of the Gaya-Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Gomoh section under Dhanbad rail division would run as scheduled.

Maoists, who have called the Jharkhand –Bihar bandh today in protest against the arrest of their hardcore activists Prashant Bose and his wife Sheela, have allegedly triggered the explosion on the track.

After getting information of the explosion on Chichaki and Karmabad railway stations, zonal railway at 4:50 a.m. announced diversion of several trains of Grand Chord section including New Delhi-Bhubaneswar Rajdhani Express, New Delhi- Sealdah Rajdhani Express, New Delhi- Howrah Rajdhani Express via Patna after Maoists  triggered explosion on track between Chichaki and Choudhry Bandh railway stations reportedly at around 1:30 a.m. of Thursday.

However, railway officials said track was repaired at 6.35 am on Thursday and scheduled trains including Anand Vihar-Puri Express which was diverted on Wednesday (January 26) would run on regular  track.

The area falls under Sariya police station of Giridih district where Maoists had blown up two mobile towers and a water tank three days ago.
