New Delhi, June 26: In the Tripura by elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won three of the four seats. Manik Saha, the chief minister of Tripura and a BJP candidate, won the assembly election from the Town Bardowali constituency by a margin of 6,104 votes, according to the Election Commission.
Sudip Roy Barman, a Congress candidate, won the prestigious Agartala seat by 3,163 votes.
In the Tripura byelections, the BJP won the Town Bordowali, Jubarajnagar, and Surma seats, respectively. Following the victory of CM Manik Saha, BJP supporters rejoiced.
Following the abrupt resignation of the previous chief minister, Biplab Deb, Manik Saha, a Rajya Sabha member, was named chief minister of the state last month. To keep his position as chief minister, he needed to win this by-election.
In accordance with the rules, he will now retire from his position as a member of the parliament. After Asish Kumar Saha left the BJP and joined the Congress in February, a byelection was held in the Town Bardowali seat.
The byelections for the Town Bardowali, Surma, and Jubarajnagar seats, conducted on June 23, started counting at 8 a.m. 22 candidates were running for office, and more than 78% of the total 1,89,032 voters had already cast their ballots.
