Daltonganj, April 1: 28-year-old Vikas Bhuiyan, a Hyva driver, was found murdered in the vicinity of the haat between Bazaar Tarn and Gurukul under the Manika police station in Latehar district on Friday evening.
Latehar SP Anjani Anjan said today that the body bore multiple injuries. He was knifed in the neck, stomach and back.”
“The element of vendetta or deep seated animosity behind the murder could not be ruled out,” added the SP.
Explaining vendetta or deep-seated animosity Anjani Anjan said, “Here in Latehar the vendetta or deep seated animosity arises because of love angle, liquor angle etc. Police are trying to unfold it.”
Anjani Anjan further said: “The site where the body was found was neither any desolate nor remote area. Further on Friday when he is most expected to have been knifed to death, there was as usual the village haat in the area and hence there was a great public movement here and it is quite an enigma as to how this youth was so knifed to death.”
“Police are working out if the multiple knifing was done somewhere else and then body was dumped here. Again it had rained on Friday and as such it would take some more time to find out if there are two locations, one of the murder and the other of dumping site as rains could have washed out things there too,” explained the SP.
The deceased’s father too had been murdered long ago and hence police would also probe the possibility of a connection between the two incidents, if any.
The officer in charge of the Manika police station Bhanu Pratap Singh said that the body was under post-mortem in the Sadar Hospital Latehar.
There is no detention or arrest so far, said the SP, adding “Our police will crack the case soon.”
