Ranchi, May 24: Doctors at Bhagwan Mahavir MEDICA Superspecialty Hospital successfully cured Kundan, a 24-year-old Ranchi resident, who had advanced testicular cancer (Testicular cancer is a tumour containing abnormal testicular tissue, which can usually be felt as a nontender lump in the scrotum).

The patient travelled to Mumbai for adequate treatment, where he learned that he was in the latter stages of cancer and that his symptoms had intensified. He returned to Ranchi and was admitted to MEDICA due to the delay in treatment there.

According to Dr Gunjesh Kumar Singh, the patient had advanced testicular cancer and several metastatic tumours in the lungs, causing difficulties in breathing.

Describing the treatment procedures, Dr Gunjesh said that he was started on chemotherapy under Ayushmaan Bharat Scheme and he completed his treatment 3 weeks back and now his scan is showing a complete response in cancer.

“I had never anticipated that such cancer could be treated in Ranchi itself,” Kundan remarked after completing his treatment at MEDICA. “But today I am a complete believer in the notion that never quit. I appreciate the efforts of the entire hospital team in getting me back in shape,” he added.

Dr Gunjesh remarked that the terminal stage of testicular cancer is not the end and that it can be healed, quoting a famous adage, “Try and fail, but never fail to try.”

Giving the people a hopeful message, Dr Gunjesh stated that life-threatening diseases and advanced cancer may now be treated in Ranchi, whereas formerly individuals had to travel considerable distances to be treated.
