New Delhi, Oct 20: Two new judges were sworn in at Delhi High Court on Friday. In their capacity as Additional Judges, Shalinder Kaur and Ravinder Dudeja were administered the oath by the Chief Justice of the Delhi High Court.
Previously, on October 16, 2023, the Ministry of Law and Justice released a notification in this regard, stating that “The President is pleased to appoint Shalinder Kaur to be an Additional Judge of the Delhi High Court with effect from the date she assumes charge of her office till September 7, 2025 and Ravinder Dudeja, to be an Additional Judge of the Delhi High Court for a period of two years with effect from the date he assumes charge of his office,” in exercise of the authority granted by clause (1) of Article 224 of the Indian Constitution.
The nomination of Shalinder Kaur and Ravinder Dudeja, two judicial officers, as judges of the High Court of Delhi has been recommended by the Supreme Court Collegium.
The collegium stated that in May 2023, the Chief Justice of the Delhi High Court, after consulting with his two most senior colleagues, suggested that these judicial officers be elevated to the status of judges of that High Court.
