Jamshedpur, June 3: Timely action led a patrolling party to nab two of the three criminals while the latter were trying to break into an ATM along the Adityapur-Kandra four-lane under Adityapur thana area in the wee hours on Saturday.
The ATM attempted at belongs to HDFC Bank and was housed at the Shivranjanjani residential complex along the four-lane, about three kms away from here at around 2.30 am.
According to police, while patrolling the four-lane, the police sensed something odd at the HDFC Bank ATM located in the Shivranjanjani residential complex. Soon after, the patrolling party rushed to the ATM where three criminals were busy dismantling it.
At the sight of the police, one of the criminals managed to escape, but two others were caught. Those arrested were identified as Ranjit Jha and Paramjeet Singh.
The police are trying to detect the one who managed to flee the crime scene.
On being interrogated, the two arrested persons divulged that prior to swooping over the HDFC Bank ATM, they had made a bid on another ATM in Adityapur itself.
The arrested criminals also divulged that they had targetted the ATMs where there is no security guard posted.
It may be mentioned here that few weeks ago a gang of criminals had tried to break into an ATM by using gas-cutting machine in Gamharia.
