Dhanbad, July 3: Two youth riding on a bike were swept away in the Usri River at Barganda, under the Sadar Police Station of Giridih district on Sunday night.
One of them managed to swim to a corner while the other two swept away in the speedy flow of the river. One body has been fished out while another is still missing. Sadar Police Officer in-charge RN Choudhary told media persons that the incident occurred at around 12 am. The three identified as Shankar, Manish and Anand were going to Hazaribagh from Bengabad (Giridih) on a single bike.
Their bike slipped in the river while crossing the wooden makeshift bridge built on the Usri River at Barganda. Water was flowing over the makeshift wooden bridge, and they could not control the bike. As they fell into the river, Shankar managed to swim safely to a corner while Manish and Anand were swept away in the current of water.
Since the bridge on the Usri River at Barganda is under construction, a wooden makeshift bridge has been made for crossing the river. The trio of riders preferred to cross through the makeshift bridge.
The body of Anand was recovered under the Argha Ghat bridge in the morning today, while the search for Manish Kumar is still on. The Sadar Police Station pressed in divers of Khandoli Dam in search of Manish.
