Dhanbad, Dec 29: Dhanbad police claimed to have arrested two cybercriminals of Jamtara district with Rs 5 .49 lakh cash and several ATM cards at Rahul Chowkunder Katras police station of the district.

Arrested cybercriminals have been identified as Israel Ansari and Majid Ansari of  Narayanpur police station area of  Jamtara district.  A police official claimed the seized amount is the highest cash recovered from cybercriminals in the region.

Baghmara sub-divisional police officer (SDPO) Nisha Murmu told media persons in the evening today that both the cybercriminals were spotted roaming near Rahul Chowk under Katras police station in suspicious condition. When police checked them, they recovered cash of Rs 5.49 lakh, several ATM cards from their possession.
“When we searched their mobile phones the evidence of cybercrimes and fake calls of banks surfaced. Now police are interrogating both the arrested persons of Jamtara to identify their link with other cybercriminals,” said Nisha  Murmu.

The SDPO said this is the biggest catch of police in cybercrime and it could be possible due to active efforts of the state police.

An official of the cyber police station said that this is the first time cybercriminals have been arrested with a cash amount. Interrogation of the arrested criminals is on and their revelation would help in destroying their network.
