Islamabad, Feb 16: An explosion onboard the Pakistani Jaffer Express train on Thursday left at least two people dead and four more hurt.

According to the sources, the explosion happened as the train was moving past Chichawatni Railway Station.

According to local media accounts, the train was coming from Peshawar. A spokeswoman for the railways was quoted by Pakistani media as saying that the explosion happened after a cylinder blew out inside of the train’s fourth bogie.

According to the spokeswoman, a passenger transported the cylinder to the train’s restroom. At the scene of the collision, the railway track was sealed off as investigators arrived.

The police and counterterrorism department officers were reportedly gathering evidence from the blast scene, according to local media.

The incident occurred a few days after a mosque blast in Peshawar, Pakistan, claimed the lives of over 100 people who had congregated there to pray. The suicide bomber apparently rode into the high-security area on a motorcycle on January 30, wearing a police uniform.
