Jamshedpur, May 17: Two young men were killed and another was seriously injured as the motorcycle they were riding rammed into a tree on Seraikela-Chaibasa road under the Seraikela police station area in the Seraikela-Kharsawan district, about 40 km away from here late last night.

Those killed were identified as Brajesh Singh (32) and Pintu Karji (28).  The injured who is undergoing treatment at the MGM medical college hospital has been identified as Dhula Singh.

The mishap took place on the Seraikela-Chaibasa road along with Kuli village at about 11 pm on Monday.

According to police, the three had on Monday evening gone to Chaibasa Toll Plaza for some work there from Seraikela riding the bike.

“Brajesh was riding the bike while Pintu and Dhula were pillion riders. As the two-wheeler was at a breakneck speed, Brajesh suddenly lost control over it and rammed into a roadside tree, causing three of them grievously injured,” said Seraikela thana OC, Manohar Kumar.

The OC said a patrolling party with the help of the local villagers rushed the three injured to Seraikela Sadar Hospital where the doctor on emergency duty declared Brajesh as dead. He pointed out that as the cold of the two others was very serious, he referred them to the MGM medical college hospital soon.

Kumar said Pintu succumbed to his injuries in the small hours today. He stated that the condition of Dhula continues to be critical.

According to the police officer, none of the victims had put on helmets and they all had sustained head injuries.

Brajesh who is survived by his widow and two children used to sell fruit juice at Seraikela market whereas Pintu would work as a daily wager in the same market. Dhula who is also married and the father of a two-year-old daughter used to run a small eatery in the Seraikela market.

A pale of gloom descended on the Seraikela marketplace as the news about the two popular faces was broken in the Seraikela market on Tuesday morning.
