Around midnight on Wednesday, a landslide occurred close to the Tupul yard railway construction site, which is located close to the Makhuam area and roughly 14 northeast of Noney police station.
According to a police officer, the identification of the deceased person whose body was found on Thursday morning has not yet been determined.
An advisory notice from the deputy commissioner of Noney district claimed that the Ijai river, which flows through Tamenglong and Noney districts, has been blocked by the debris, creating a dam-like storage condition that, if ruptured, will cause devastation to the low-lying sections of Noney district.
Meanwhile, rescue operations by the Indian Army and Assam Rifles is in progress.
