Two held at Jharsuguda railway station after RPF detects ganja with help of sniffer dog

Jamshedpur, June 2: A special drive was conducted under operation ‘NARCOS’ by the officers and staff of Railway Protection Force (RPF) along with a special team of Chakradharpur railway division at Jharsuguda railway station.

During the drive at about 11 am, two persons were waiting for a Delhi bound train in suspicious manner. Hence, their luggage was sniffed by the RPF sniffer dog. It was checked and found there were narcotic substances in the luggage which was suspected to be ‘Ganja’.

On being interrogated, they revealed their names and addresses as Devachanda Saw (47) and Trilochan Mallick (22). Devachand was a native of Bihar while Trilochan hailed from Odisha.

The authority of concerned excise department was informed about the incident. Accordingly, they attended and on checking, it was found that there was around 25 Kg of Ganja worth Rs 1,25,000.

In this regard, a case vide no. 39/22-23, U/S 20(b) (ii) (C) NDPS Act. 1985 has been registered against the two and they have been taken to the SDJM Jharsuguda, court after completing necessary legal formalities.
