Bokaro: Two Naxals were killed, and a 15-lakh bounty Naxal, Ranvijay Mahto, was arrested during an encounter between the police and CPI Maoist cadres in Bokaro district on Wednesday. The deceased were identified as Shanti Devi, the wife of Ranvijay Mahto, and Manoj Tudu, both residents of Giridih district.

The operation was launched following intelligence inputs about the presence of Ranvijay Mahto, a regional committee member, and his squad in the Parasnath and Lugu Pahad regions. Senior police officials confirmed that the group was planning a major attack.

Planning A Major Incident: DGP

Director General of Police Anurag Gupta revealed in a press conference that the Naxal squad, including Shanti Devi, Manoj Tudu, Saheb Ram Manjhi, and Arvind Yadav, was on the verge of executing a significant attack in the Phek Narayanpur area. Acting on the intelligence, the police launched a swift operation, leading to a fierce encounter that resulted in the deaths of two Naxals.

Weapons recovered from the site included two rifles and one AK-47. Senior officials, including IG CRPF Saket Singh and IG Operations AV Homkar, participated in the press conference.

Ranvijay Mahto Arrested

Ranvijay Mahto, carrying a bounty of ₹15 lakh, was arrested by a joint team of Jharkhand Police and intelligence agencies. He was apprehended on Tuesday evening near Chandrapura B.Ed College, disguised to evade capture.

Eyewitnesses reported that police stopped a biker, who was later identified as Mahto, near Narra village. His bike and a smartphone were seized at the site. The police also recovered additional evidence from the scene.
