Two policemen shot dead by criminals in Jharkhand’s Deoghar

Deoghar, Feb 12: Two policemen were shot dead by criminals in Deoghar on late Saturday night. Both the policemen were deployed as bodyguards of fish businessman Sudhakar Jha who has faced attacks by rivals in the past as well.

According to the sources, the reason for the incident is said to be a fight for extortion and supremacy. The deceased police personnel has been identified as Santosh Kumar Yadav and Ravi Kumar Mishra, both from SahibGanj. The incident took place in Machhali patti under the town Police area.

“Both the policemen were deployed as bodyguards of a businessman. Probe underway to find out if it was an encounter or culprits opened fire indiscriminately,” said Deoghar police.

As soon as the local police reached the spot, they were also attacked. The vehicle of the town police station in-charge has got bullet marks.

According to sources one of the criminals has been handed over by locals to police and one other has also been arrested. DIG Sudarshan Mandal has reached Deoghar to inspect the crime spot.
