New Delhi, April 13: Two Sikh men were assaulted in New York, the city’s latest attack on the community, which drew widespread outrage. A person has been arrested in the United States in response to calls for action against hate crimes. An elderly Sikh man was attacked just a few days ago in Queens, the same borough as the most recent incident.
The assault was condemned by the Consulate General of India in New York, who called it “deplorable” and said they were in contact with the authorities investigating the event.
“Another hateful attack against our Sikh community in Richmond Hill. Both individuals who were responsible must be brought to justice. Anyone with information about this should immediately contact @NYPDnews,” New York Attorney General Letitia James tweeted.
