New Delhi, Jan 28: India and England will play for the trophy in the inaugural ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup final on Sunday at Senwes Park in Potchefstroom.

The first Women’s U19 T20 World Cup has just one match left, with the championship match planned for 5:15 PM (IST) on Sunday in Potchefstroom, after two weeks of activity that has included 16 national teams. India’s outstanding performance against New Zealand in the first semi-final on Friday helped them secure one of the final spots, and England’s thrilling victory over Australia in the second semi-final advanced them to Sunday’s championship match.

India’s bowlers caused significant damage by regularly taking wickets and limiting a potent New Zealand batting lineup to 107/9 in their 20 overs.

The most of the damage was done by Parshavi Chopra, who took 3/20, while captain Shafali Verma only allowed seven runs in her four overs and took one wicket.

In response, India won easily thanks to a merciless half-century from Shweta Sehrawat, the first batter and the tournament’s top scorer. India accomplished the mark in 14.2 overs thanks in large part to the undefeated 61* from Sehrawat.

In the first few overs of the second semi-final, too, Australia’s brilliant bowling attack shredded England’s top order, leaving them in serious difficulty at 45/7.

The game was still very much in Australia’s favour at the halfway mark, but a resolute partnership between Alexa Stonehouse (25) and Josie Groves (15) enabled England to return to a total of 99 all out when the final wicket fell off the fifth delivery of the final over.

With a brilliant bowling performance, England managed to defeat Australia by bowling them out for 96 runs—three runs short of the target.

Hannah Baker stood out with a fantastic 3/10 from four overs, and captain Grace Scrivens provided a dramatic end by taking the final wicket and finishing with outstanding individual numbers of 2/8 from 3.4 overs in addition to her run-a-ball 20 at the plate.
