New Delhi, April 10: The official Twitter handle of the University Grants Commission (UGC) India was hacked on Sunday, a day after the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister’s Office was hacked.
This is the third high-profile government Twitter account to be hacked in the last two days, following the UP-Chief Minister’s Office and the Indian Meteorological Department.
When some unknown hackers gained control of the site and posted an irrelevant thread of Twitter messages tagging various unknown accounts all around the world, the breach was discovered.

Previously, the hacker’s profile photo was a cartoonist, but it has since been removed and looks to be blank. At the time of writing, the Twitter handle @ugc india has roughly 2,96,000 followers. The account also has a link to the company’s official website.
There hasn’t been any word on whether the account has been reinstated. On Saturday, the Twitter account of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath was also hacked. The profile photo was then changed to a cartoonist monkey. A probe has been ordered to investigate the cause behind the hack.
