New Delhi, March 4: The Supreme Court on Friday declined to rule on a petition seeking the evacuation of Indians stranded in war-torn Ukraine.
Chief Justice NV Ramana stated that the government must figure out something before the court will issue any orders. The CJI further stated that he will not comment on the efforts that have already been made.
“We appreciate that. We are also concerned about the anxiety of people,” the CJI said.
“It’s unfortunate that we have not learnt from past mistakes and still resort to war. We don’t have much say but there is anxiety about students,” he added.
The apex court also asked Attorney General to get instructions from the Centre about all the steps being taken to evacuate Indians stranded in Ukraine, the possibility of a helpline for parents etc.
Notably, the Chief Justice bench was hearing two petitions on the matter of evacuation of students from Ukraine.
