New Delhi, Jan 14: The first ever Under-19 Women’s T20 World Cup will start on January 14 in South Africa, with 41 matches remaining to the championship game on January 29. The tournament will see 16 teams, playing 41 matches.

Shafali Varma, who has previously played senior cricket for India, will serve as Team India’s captain. She will captain a talented Indian team that also includes seasoned Indian player Richa Ghosh. This is a strong Indian team that plans to win the World Cup in its first year of competition.

Notably, the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, which begins on February 9 in South Africa alone, will come after this World Cup.

The team captained by Shafali Verma will try to emulate the feats accomplished by Team India under MS Dhoni in 2007, when that tournament was hosted in South Africa.
