Deoghar, Nov.22: Two persons were shot by unidentified miscreants while riding on a motorcycle near Daliraidih along Ghoroaras- Badiya road under Sarath police station area of Deoghar district on Monday. Afzal Ansari (35) of Chandadih village under Kunda police station died in the incident.

The injured Matiul Ansari (30), who happens to be the brother-in-law of the deceased, hails from Raghunathpur village under Mohanpur police station of the district.

SP Deoghar, Dhananjay Kumar Singh, said that the duo were on their way to Chandadih from Raghunathpur on a motorcycle when the miscreants intercepted them and fired shots on their heads from point blank range.

“Both were rushed to the Deoghar Sadar Hospital where Afzal was declared brought dead whereas his brother-in-law is undergoing treatment with his condition stated to be critical by the doctors,” the SP said adding that an investigation was on to ascertain the reason of the enmity between the victims and the miscreants.

Sources, however, said that the deceased and his brother-in-law work in Delhi and Bhuwaneshwar respectively and had come home only a couple of days ago to attend a family marriage ceremony.

Police have recovered the motorcycle they were riding and a live cartridge from the spot of shootout.
