Union Minister of State for Environment Ashwini Choubey Visits Godda Adani Power Plant

Takes Stock of Environmental Management at the Power Plant

Godda, 17 November 2023 – Union Minister of State for Environment, Forest, and Climate Change, Ashwini Kumar Choubey, visited the Adani Power Plant in Godda on Friday during his Vikas Bharat Sankalp Yatra. The visit aimed to assess the environmental management practices at the power plant.

Arriving in Godda from Banka, Shri Choubey was warmly welcomed at the power plant premises around 12:30 PM by Station Head Ramesh Jha and O&M Head Prasun Chakraborty, presenting him with a bouquet of flowers. In the administrative building of the power plant, he conducted a meeting with senior officials from Adani Power Plant and Lalmatiya Coal Field to discuss environmental issues and evaluate the environmental management practices in place.

The meeting included representatives from the Deputy Director General of Forests (Integrated Regional Office, Ranchi), Central Pollution Control Board Regional Director KK Vishwas, Range Officer Sanjay Kumar, SDO Godda Baijnath Oraon, CO Godda, Godda MLA Amit Mandal, BJP District President Rajiv Mehta, former Mahagama MLA Ashok Bhagat, and senior officials from Adani Power.

During the meeting, power plant officials provided insights into the advanced environmental management systems installed on the premises. Additionally, they shared information about safety regulations and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives. The Union Minister, Ashwini Choubey, gathered information from Regional Environment Control Board official Rajiv Sinha and expressed his satisfaction.

Ashwini Choubey discussed environmental protection measures for Godda, including the power plant complex, and offered suggestions. He further engaged with Arupnanda Nayak and Om Prakash Choubey, General Manager of ECL, on environmental control in the coal field and other related issues.

The visit lasted approximately one hour, during which Shri Choubey planted trees within the plant premises, emphasizing the importance of widespread tree planting for environmental protection. The Union Minister’s engagement underscores the government’s commitment to ensuring environmentally sustainable practices in power generation and associated activities.
