New Delhi: Union Minister and BJP leader Ravneet Singh Bittu stirred a fresh controversy by calling Congress MP Rahul Gandhi the “number one terrorist of the country” in response to Gandhi’s recent remarks about religious freedom and the Sikh community during his visit to the US. Bittu, a former Congress leader who switched to the BJP, made the incendiary comments while addressing reporters, going as far as to say that Rahul Gandhi is the “biggest enemy of the country.”
Bittu accused Rahul Gandhi of trying to divide the nation by first targeting Muslims and now the Sikh community. “Earlier, they [the Congress] tried to use Muslims, but it did not work. Now they are attempting to divide Sikhs,” Bittu said, drawing parallels between Gandhi’s remarks and those made by individuals labeled as terrorists. “Even those who are terrorists have appreciated Rahul Gandhi’s statements. When such people are supporting Rahul Gandhi, then he is the number one terrorist of the country,” the BJP leader claimed.
Rahul Gandhi’s Remarks on Religious Freedom
The Union Minister’s harsh criticism came in response to Rahul Gandhi’s comments at an event in Virginia, US, where the Congress leader spoke about the state of religious freedoms in India. Referring specifically to Sikhs, Gandhi said, “The fight [in India] is about whether a Sikh is going to be allowed to wear a turban… whether a Sikh will be allowed to wear a kada or go to the gurdwara. That’s what the fight is about, and it’s not just for Sikhs but for all religions.”
These remarks triggered sharp reactions from BJP leaders, with Bittu going as far as to question Gandhi’s allegiance to India. He stated, “In my opinion, if there should be a reward for catching anyone or the biggest enemy of the country, it is Rahul Gandhi.”
“Rahul Gandhi Is Not Indian”: Ravneet Singh Bittu
Bittu further alleged that Rahul Gandhi is “not an Indian,” citing Gandhi’s time spent abroad as evidence of his detachment from the country. “Rahul Gandhi, in my opinion, is not an Indian. He has spent most of his time outside India. His friends and family are there. That is why I think that somewhere he does not love his country much because he goes abroad and says such negative things about India,” Bittu said.
BJP Leader Mocks Gandhi’s Public Outreach
The Union Minister also took aim at Rahul Gandhi’s public outreach campaigns, accusing the Congress leader of participating in such initiatives merely for “photo ops.” According to Bittu, despite being a five-time Member of Parliament, Gandhi has failed to understand the struggles of the common man.
“He talks about OBCs and castes. Till now, this man has not been able to understand the pain of a cobbler, carpenter, or mechanic, even after being the Leader of Opposition,” Bittu said, mocking Gandhi’s efforts to connect with ordinary people. “You are still roaming around and asking these people about their problems, just for the sake of getting your photo clicked.”
