Ranchi, Jan.3: Union tribal affairs minister Arjun Munda honoured the village of tribal icon Jaipal Singh Munda, Takra, by laying foundation stones of as many as six roads and expressed his commitment to make it a village of national attraction.
The six roads, for which the foundation was laid, included a 1.87km road with a culvert connecting Takra River with Pahalwanpiri via Takra Hatudama 1.87km road strengthening and 621 feet PCC road connecting a Palm tree with a Church.
Other roads included the 1260 feet PCC path connecting the residence of Jaipal Singh Munda with a tamarind tree, 621 feet path connecting Takra ground with the residence of one Jaitun Kachhap and 415 feet PCC path connecting the residence of Sukhram Kacchap’s tamarind tree with a palm tree of the village.
Munda on the occasion also distributed hockey kits among hockey players of the local women hockey team before inaugurating a hockey tournament.
Earlier, he remembered Jaipal Singh Munda for his contribution in the field of politics, journalism, education and hockey.
Khunti MLA Neelkant Singh Munda and son of Jaipal Singh Munda, Jayant Jaipal Singh Munda were also present on the occasion with administrative officers of the area.
Born on January 3, 1903 at Takra village, Jaipal Singh Munda apart from being a member of the constituent assembly was also a hockey player who was the only international player to get the reward of Oxford Blu in 1925.
