Ranchi, Dec 7: Public of Ranchi experienced an unusual traffic jam at Ratu road between 10 to 11 a.m. today. The traffic congestion continued from Pandra to Ratu road chowk along with another jam from Ratu Road to Harmu Chowk.

The commuters had to divert their route to reach their destination on time. There were several commuters who took a longer route in order to save their time from the massive traffic jam, while others looked clueless and waited for the traffic congestion to clear.

An office goer said that he has to reach his office by 11a.m. but he was stuck in the traffic jam for nearly an hour. “The traffic jam at Kishoreganj is frequent but today it has crossed limits,” he said.

However, traffic police department officials stated that the traffic jam was caused by a medical emergency, for which the route had to be cleared at particular points. This displaced a huge number of commuters onto Ratu Road, causing traffic congestion.

“A medical problem at Medanta Hospital necessitated the creation of a medical corridor in order for the patient to arrive at the airport on time,” said traffic DSP Kapinder Oraon.

“Shortly after the patient, there was a VIP movement on the road for which we had to stop traffic for a long period, resulting in a long traffic jam,” he explained.
