UP: Eight die after two buses collide on Purvanchal Expressway

Lucknow, July 25: A bus accident on the Purvanchal Expressway in Uttar Pradesh resulted in at least eight fatalities and 16 injuries on Monday.

Reports state that the event happened close to the Loni Katra police station area’s Narayanpur village. The injured had been taken to a hospital, and the bodies had been sent for postmortem, according to the officials.

“In Purvanchal expressway accident, 8 dead while 16 are injured. Severely injured sent to the trauma centre, those with minor injuries treated at CHC. Post mortem being of those who died ongoing. Further investigation underway,” said Anurag Vats, SP Barabanki, UP.

The accident happened in the vicinity of Narendrapur Madraha village, close to Loniktra police station. Both double-decker buses had departed from Sitamarhi and Supaul in Bihar for Delhi.

After the accident, Yogi Adityanath, the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, expressed his sorrow and sent his condolences to the families of those killed in the incident.

“The loss of life in a road accident on Purvanchal Expressway is very sad. Instructions have been given to the concerned officials for speedy relief and rescue operations and proper treatment of the injured. May Lord Shri Ram grant peace to the departed souls and speedy recovery to the injured,” UP CM said in a tweet.

संबंधित अधिकारियों को राहत व बचाव कार्य तेजी से संचालित करने और घायलों के समुचित उपचार हेतु निर्देश दिए गए हैं।
