Lucknow, March 12: At least five people, including three children, were charred to death after a massive fire broke out at a hut in Uttar Pradesh’s Kanpur Dehat on Sunday.
As per information, the incident occurred in the Harmau Banjaradera village under the Rura police station area limits. However, the cause of the fire is believed to be a short circuit. Satish Kumar, his wife Kajal and their three children were sleeping when suddenly the fire broke out. All of them were burnt alive in the fire.
Meanwhile, residents tried to extinguish the fire, and the fire tenders rushed to the village to douse the flames, but they could not be saved.
Satish’s mother, who tried to extinguish the fire, also sustained injuries in the incident and was taken to the hospital for treatment.
After receiving the information, the District Magistrate, Superintendent of police (SP) and other officers reached the spot to investigate. A forensic team and dog squads were also pressed into service to investigate the cause of the fire.
As per resident Udaypal, “Satish was sleeping with his wife and children. A night bulb on the thatched roof caught fire due to a short circuit in which they were burnt to death.”
“We received information about Satish and his family being burnt alive in the fire. We have called a forensic team, fire department officials and a dog squad team for investigation. Five people died in the incident,” said Kanpur Dehat SP.
Meanwhile, DM Neha Jain visited the district hospital where Satish’s mother was undergoing treatment.
