Lucknow, April 26: In the middle of a dispute in Maharashtra over the use of loudspeakers for religious activities, the Uttar Pradesh government has issued a new set of rules for the use of loudspeakers by places of worship, according to the reports.
The government of Yogi Adityanath has issued an order for all religious sects’ places of worship to use loudspeakers at restricted volumes. Loudspeakers playing at a shrine should not be allowed to leave the premises, according to the new rules. If the order is broken, the authorities have the right to remove the loudspeaker from the affected place of worship.
Law enforcement officers have also been required to perform a weekly examination of compliance with the guidelines at the district level, with the first report due by April 30.
Meanwhile, following the uproar generated by Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) president Raj Thackeray, the state administration announced that it would discuss the matter with the centre.
