Lucknow, Jan 11: Swami Prasad Maurya, the Uttar Pradesh Labour Minister, has resigned from the cabinet and joined the Samajwadi Party ahead of the 2022 assembly elections, blaming the BJP government’s neglect of Dalits and farmers.
In his letter, Maurya accused the Yogi Adityanath government of neglecting Dalits, farmers, small and medium-sized enterprises, and unemployed youngsters.
Akhilesh Yadav, the leader of the Samajwadi Party, greeted Maurya and stated that he has always advocated for social justice.
“Maurya has always stood for justice for the society and is a well-known face among the masses. I welcome him and all the other leaders, workers and supporters into the Samajwadi party,” Yadav said.
