New Delhi, March 11: BSP president Mayawati advised party workers on Friday not to be discouraged after the party’s poor performance in the UP elections, promising a comeback in the future.

Notably, only one of Uttar Pradesh’s 403 assembly seats went to the Bahujan Samaj Party.

“UP election results are opposed to BSP’s expectations. We should not be discouraged by it. Instead we should learn from it, introspect, and carry forward our party movement, and come back to power,” addressing a press conference on friday, Mayawati said.

“UP poll results are an important lesson for the BSP for the future,” she added.

Mayawati, speaking on the BSP’s poor performance in comparison to her pre-election boasts, stated the party is going through a difficult period, similar to what the BJP experienced previously.

“Before 2017, BJP did not have a good stake in Uttar Pradesh. Likewise, today, Congress is also undergoing the same phase as BJP…UP election result is a lesson for us to continue putting in efforts,” BSP chief Mayawati said.

“Negative campaigns succeeded in misleading… that BSP is BJP’s B-team… while the truth is opposite, BJP vs BSP war was not only political but principled & electoral as well,” she further added.
