UP Polls: BJP’s fourth list out; 49 OBC, SC candidates get ticket

Lucknow, Jan 22: The BJP has offered tickets to 49 candidates from the Other Backward Class (OBC) and Scheduled Caste (SC) communities out of 85 candidates in its fourth list for the upcoming Uttar Pradesh Assembly Election.

Thirty of the candidates are from the OBC category, while 19 are from the SC category.

Candidates from the Lodhi caste were allocated ten tickets in the OBC category, seven to Kurmi, and one each to Nishad and Yadav. The Mauryas, Kushwahas, and Shakyas each received eleven tickets.

So far, 195 applicants’ names have been announced.

The Uttar Pradesh Assembly election of 2022 will be contested in seven phases beginning on February 10th. The results of the election will be announced on March 10.

The ruling BJP, Akhilesh Yadav’s Samajwadi Party, the Congress, and Mayawati’s Bahujan Samaj Party are expected to fight it out in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections this time.
