Urban Development Department to reward puja committees in Jharkhand

Ranchi, Oct 13: An initiative has been undertaken by the Urban Development Department to honour the work of the puja committees through a competition under “Azadi se Amrit Mahotsav”.

The effect of coronavirus infection has not diminished yet. Chief Minister Hemant Soren is constantly appealing to the people to celebrate Durga Puja, but with caution. Along with this, the Urban Development Department under his control is also encouraging the Puja Committees in all the municipal bodies to follow the Corona guidelines and minimize the use of chemicals in the idols. For this, on the instructions of the department, a competition has been started to give first, second and third place to the Puja pandal committees.

For winning the competition certain criteria are being set. These criteria will be of 70 points, in which compliance with the Covid Protocol guidelines, cleanliness and least pollution of water sources has been included.

Ranchi Municipal Corporation and Jhumri Tilaiya Municipal Council have appealed to the puja committees of their area to participate in this competition started under the “Azadi Se Amrit Mahotsav”.

The competition winner will be selected by awarding points based on the following criteria:-

  • For covid protocol and guidelines – 10 points
  • Cleanliness of the place of worship – 5 points
  • Separate dustbins for wet/dry waste at the place of worship – 5 points
  • Garbage can for segregation of wet and dry waste – 10 points
  • Use of natural colours, biodegradable and eco-friendly items in the decoration of idols – 10 points
  • For not using plastic carry bags in work like distribution of Prasad, distribution of drinking water, collection of puja material – 20 marks
  • Government guidelines to be followed at the time of idol immersion – 10 marks
