Ranchi, March 14: The Urdu daily ‘Qaumi Tanzeem’ has targeted Bahujan Samaj Party’s President Mayawati after getting a huge defeat in the Uttar Pradesh elections. The newspaper headlined its editorial as ‘Mayawati’s Lie’. It wrote that the BSP President has started to blame the Muslims for the defeat. The paper also mentioned that the BSP, which was in the dust in the UP elections, had lost its foundations back in 2012.

The BSP had contested for all the 403 seats in the UP election but could only register one. The traditional vote bank of the BSP i.e., the Dalit vote, has either left them, or have deliberately allowed their vote bank to slip away easily.

The newspaper has also mentioned that despite Muslims having a trust in the BSP, their president has been targeting the Muslims for the loss. However, Mayawati’s good relations with their opposition BJP, have been a topic of discussion for a long time now.

‘Akhbar-e-Mashreq’, another urdu newspaper published from Kolkata and Jharkhand, had headlined its editorial as ‘Congress in the worst stages of its decline, will it cease to exist?’ The newspaper wrote that the most prominent aspect of the five assembly elections is that the Congress has reached its worst decline.

In Uttar Pradesh, where Priyanka Gandhi had spared no effort to breathe new life into the Congress, the guarantees of Congress candidates were forfeited in 337 out of 339 constituencies. Out of the 403 seats, Congress could only manage 2 seats. In all the five Assembly elections, including Punjab, where the Congress was in power, the performance of the Congress has been the worst.

The newspaper wrote that both, those who disagree with the party and those who uphold the right of allegiance, are saying that the Congress has become too weak and under no circumstances is capable to challenge the current Government i.e., BJP.

Most of the leaders have said that the Congress was not in a position to challenge the BJP in the Assembly elections to be held in Gujarat later this year due to the severe push in the five Assembly elections.

The newspaper has written that those who disagree with the party’s point of view, including some leaders of the G-23 group, say that they had dared to tell the truth to the party but their mouths were shut. It added that the leadership should be aware of the trauma inflicted on the party.
