Dhanbad, June 21: Arya Razdan, a B.Tech student of the petroleum engineering department at IIT Indian School of Mines (ISM) emerged as the topper among undergraduate female engineers in the country in a national competition.
Razdan bagged the first prize in the ‘Urja Shakti’ national competition organized by the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology (RGIPT) in New Delhi.
The competition was organized for undergraduate young female engineering students of the country to provide them with an opportunity to understand various dimensions of the energy sector and strengthen their confidence to plan their careers as leaders in the Urja (power) sector by enhancing their knowledge base of prevalent energy technologies.
The participant undergraduate female engineers were given nine themes of different sectors of energy namely
Application in the petroleum industry, automation in the energy sector, cyber security in the energy sector, energy policies and climate change energy storage and utilization, strategies for CO, capture and utilization, unconventional energy resources, waste to energy, zero waste energy to write up in this competition.
Arya Razdan of IIT ISM Dhanbad emerged topper in the competition and bagged a cash prize of Rs 30,000 while Ridhi Ravindra Birari, a B.Tech petroleum engineering student of Parul University in Vadodara and Akansha Bharti, a B.Tech student of Graphic Era University in Dehradun got the second and third position respectively and bagged a cash prize of Rs 20,000 and Rs 10,000 respectively.
Total 10 top female B. Tech female engineers of the country were given an award for their outstanding write-up in the energy sector in the competition. Union Minister of State for Natural Gas and Labour Employment Rameshwar Teli was the chief guest in the award ceremony and presented the prize to topper Razdan and others.
The ‘Urja Shakti competition was started in 2021 by the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology to promote women’s presence in the energy sector.
