Daltonganj, Nov. 24: Vaccination teams in Latehar district are not leaving any tables turned to cover 100% target of Covid-19 vaccination drive. They are penetrating deep into the jungles to provide vaccines to the beneficiaries at all costs.

Community health officer Hehegara, Abha Kumari, alongwith ANM Sunina Kujur, Rohit and others reached Putwagarh village for providing vaccines to the villagers.

“We conducted vaccination drive in the jungles and that too on the day of Maoists’ bandh. There has so far come no hindrance from any side,” Abha Kumari said.

Ved Prakash, a health official in Latehar, informed that a lactating mother, Pramila Devi, wife of Pintu Turi of Chatam hamlet of Ganeshpur village, took her first dose holding her twin babies in her lap.

“That was a great moment when a rural lactating mother nursing twin babies came forward and took the jab. This will help educate the pregnant and lactating women in cities that they should not prolong their vaccination,” said Ved Prakash.

Dr. Ashish Ranjan, medical officer in-charge of the community health centre Barwadeeh, said that Ganeshpur sub health centre falls in a ‘no network zone’ and the cell phone connectivity is zero there. So, door-to-door vaccination is proving beneficiary for the rural people located in remote areas of the district.

Latehar health team is now eyeing road side vendors, small confectionery sellers, cycle repair mechanics etc to find out if they are vaccinated or not.
