Reasi, Aug 21: After being temporarily halted on Saturday due to bad weather, the movement of pilgrims to the Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine in Katra town in the Reasi region of Jammu and Kashmir would resume on Sunday morning. The yatra has been put on hold since Saturday night.

“Following inclement weather conditions, Yatra has been suspended till the morning of August 21,” said Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board on Saturday.

Personnel from the police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) have already been sent out. The Board is keeping an eye on the situation.

A cloudburst that hit the Amarnath holy cave area in July caused a heavy water discharge in the Nallah, which lies next to the holy cave. As a result, the road to Amarnath was damaged, and the yatra was put on hold for a while. The Indian Air Force dispatched four Mi-17V5 and four Cheetal helicopters for rescue and relief efforts at the Amarnath shrine. On June 29, the Yatra departed from Jammu under strict security measures put in place by the CRPF, the army, and the local police.
