New Delhi, Oct 7: The new National Executive Committee of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was announced on Thursday. While many Union Ministers and leaders are on the list, party MPs and mother son duo Maneka Gandhi and Varun Gandhi have been excluded from the executive council.
This list of 80 members includes Prime Minister Narendra Modi, LK Advani, Murli Manohar Joshi, Union Minister Amit Shah and Rajnath Singh. Apart from these, Mithun Chakraborty has also got a new national executive place. Vinay Katiyar has also been removed from the national executive. The meeting of BJP national office bearers will be held on October 18.
This removal of Varun Gandhi comes even as he has been quite vocal regarding the Lakhimpur Kheri incident and has been demanding an investigation into the incident.
“He projected as if the entire fault lies at the doorsteps of the leaders. We are awaiting the investigation report and believe that incident was unfortunate. He should have been patient at a time when the entire opposition is targeting the party”, a senior BJP leader said.
Notably, the national executive council is one of the most powerful panel’s in the party which takes crucial decisions on shaping the future course of action for the BJP and the government.
